Wow! What an experience! I have always been a big fan of F1, so being given the opportunity to experience it in Singapore was just fantastic.
Being a night race just makes the whole atmosphere even more edgy. And you get a superb firework experience just as the race finishes (I have never seen such an amazing display!).
The setting in Singapore is really quite special. Especially down by Marina Bay, with the big wheel in the background and the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel in the distance. The view is just superb day or night.
We were very fortunate to experience a full-on hospitality experience at the Grand Prix. This gave us access into a private box and roof terrace serving drinks and food all day - worth every penny just for the view on turn 1! With a 3-day pass included it meant we could spend Friday really getting to know what the circuit is all about and having a look around the many stalls to purchase merchandise, Saturday is the big build up with the qualifying and then Sunday – race day! What was so amazing compared to watching on the TV so many times was the action you just don’t see from your front room!
If you are an F1 fan then Singapore won’t disappoint! It’s a fabulous city outside of the race weekend. We had dinner one evening at the newly opened Six Senses Duxton, a very unique boutique hotel right in the heart of the action. After all the city hype you could also head over to Sentosa island, only about 20min by car this is a great place to relax with the family or escape the madness of the city. They even have a Universal Studios Singapore now so perfect to keep the kids entertained. I would highly recommend Sentosa as nice way to break a long journey onto Australia!
